Sattvic Foods to Balance Your Body and Mind

Apart from yoga and meditation, the Food we eat plays a vital role in balancing your Mind and body. If you are looking to achieve a well-balanced body, Mind, health, and vitality, one should make a shift towards sattvic Food. It is the purest form of food one can consume, according to Ayurveda. The consumption of sattvic Food develops a balance between Mind, body, and soul as well as enhances your yoga practice to an extent. It nourishes our body and focuses on light and wholesome Food, which is easily digestible. Under sattvic food items that hard the body is called Tamasic, while food items, which are neither positive or negative, the effect on the body is termed as Rajasic Food.

Here are some of the sattvic food items you must include in your diet regime and achieve a balance between your Mind and body.

Fresh Organic Fruits:

Mostly many fresh organic fruits are considered as a part of the sattvic diet, but there is some exceptions. Fruits like apples, bananas, orange, peaches, grapes, and plums are included in sattvic Food. These are regarded as a symbol of spirituality. Food like avocado and tomatoes should not be consumed in excess as these are considered as rajasic.

Honey:

In a sattvic diet, honey is in the list of sweeteners, which is acceptable to consume in a moderate amount. According to Ayurveda, one should totally avoid processed white sugar. Also, a sweetener like maple syrup, sucanat, fruit juice, sugarcane juice should be consumed in a very less or moderate amount.

Legumes:

Legumes are an essential part of the sattvic diet as these are easily digestible. Smaller beans like mung beans, split pea, lentils, aduki beans, organic tofu and chickpeas for the protein intake in the body. One can also combine legumes and whole grains.

Nuts, seeds and oils:

Overnight soaked nuts and seeds are great for the body as they are a healthy fat and soaking overnight make it easily digestible. One should not consume pure seed, overly salted, roasted seed as they lost their sattvic properties. Seeds like almonds, flaxseed, walnut, pine nut are the best choices under sattvic Food. Also, according to a sattvic diet your Food should be cooked in ghee, coconut oil, or sesame oil, or either oil should be consumed in the raw state.

Ghee:

Also known as clarified butter, it is considered as best sattvic Food due to usage and importance since the Vedic time period. The nature of clarified butter is cold and sweet as well as heavy. When mixed rice and soma juice it become Food of god. The most and best recommended is ghee should be made by cow milk.

Consuming sattvic food gives rise to clear thought, a loving and open heart. However, in order to achieve perfect harmony, it is imperative to approach wellness from a better perspective. With the help of nutrition, yoga, meditation, one can achieve the balance of Mind, body, and soul.
